We are inviting Nominations from anyone for their Women of the Year 2018. These are the unsung heroines doing works and deeds beyond the call of everyday life either where they live or work and are making major differences to other people’s lives.
Now in its 16th year the awards are held on Friday 22nd June 2018 at the Crowne Plaza, it is now the biggest event for Women on Merseyside. The previous “Woman of the Year” winner Alison Hodgson will be coming along on the day. Alison said “Winning Merseyside Woman Of The Year has helped my charity, evolve... tackling substance abuse, in so many ways... it also gives a happy ending to my substance abuse presentation. This really helps to inspire people, especially young people, helping them to realise that, through all adversity, you can come through and even win awards! Winning the Neo award was also brilliant and I have now become a Trustee of Neo and I help out whenever I can. Thank you MWOTY".
Nominations can be submitted via the website, www.merseysidewomenoftheyear.co.uk/about/nominate by the closing date of midnight Friday 28th April 2018 and then a list of the finalists will be published on the website for voting purposes – Public voting will close on Monday 12th June 2018 at 5pm, for whom the public think should be named Merseyside Woman of the Year 2018.
The Organisers of the Event, Jean Gadsby, Ellie Kerr and Elaine Owen, do not want this to be an ordinary fund raising for charity event, but instead have pledged an enduring legacy for the future, raising funds for various charitable causes. Last year the event raised over £4,500 for Variety, The Children's charity and in the past £29,820 for cash for kids and has also gifted bursaries to LJMU students. This year the awards event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Liverpool Waterfront, on Friday 22nd June 2018 at 12.00pm.
It is an afternoon, which is truly one of the most inspirational, uplifting and thought provoking events in the Merseyside calendar and it epitomises the “fabulousness” of women.
